I have lived in Risca/Pontymister all my life and hold great affection for it and the surrounding countryside. Which I have seen slowly destroyed, both Machen and the Tump have now become dumping grounds for rubbish.
Also I would like everyone to remember that the park was given to the people of Risca/Pontymister to enjoy!!!!!!!!!!But the old baths field was given to the CHILDREN of the area to ENJOY..........so the beautiful gates have disappeared to some council yard, they now have a bloody car park, how many 8yr olds are going to drive there to play?????????? and no swimming pool or swings to play on. Worst of all not many people know or care about these old traditions.......shame on all of us.

MY GREAT GRANDFATHER, DAVID WYNNE OF RHES Y CAE WAS AN APPRENTICE TO EDWARD CARTWRIGHT FROM 1890-1895. PICTURED ARE PART OF HIS INDENTURE WHICH I HAVE AND A PICTURE OF IN HIM IN A SMITHY POSSIBLY IN NANNERCH.

I wonder if Marjorie Blake or someone local knows of an ancester of mine called Elisabeth Scottow. She was born in 1758 and died aged 78 on 3 April 1826. She married a John Farrow on December 24 1772 and John and Elisabeth are buried at North Erpingham.

MY 2X GRANDFATHER WAS UNFORTUNATELY KILLED BY A HORSE HE#39D GONE TO FETCH FROM LICHFIELD FOR MR.W.WOOD WHO OWNED THE HALL.
